Victor Vran: Motorhead Through the Ages is available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The Victor Vran name and logo are trademarks of Haemimont Games AD. You can find our review for the vanilla Victor Vran here. If you’ve already played the standard game, do yourself a favour and grab the Motorhead: Through the Ages DLC , and if you’re picking it up on console, make sure to go for the Overkill Edition, which includes all DLC. The locations are varied and interesting, and Lloyd Kaufman’s cameo in The Pub at the End of the World is a brilliantly unexpected touch. Slaying hordes of monsters while rocking out to Ace of Spades is an experience like no other, and one that fits the genre perfectly. While Victor Vran is a solid experience by itself, it’s the Motorhead expansion that really sets it apart from the crowd. Thankfully Victor Vran has a robust autosave system so I never lost much in the way of progress. It happened a few times, and it’s irksome, but it didn’t put me off jumping right back to the action. At random intervals during battle the game would completely freeze, letting me do nothing but rotate the camera, forcing me to quit to the dashboard and reload the game. Playing on Xbox One however, I did experience a few crashes with Victor Vran, both in the standard game and in the Motorhead Through the Ages expansion. He’ll narrate certain memoirs of Motorhead frontman Lemmy as you find them throughout your travels, and you’ll return to speak with him between each mission. It’s an incredibly random cameo, sure, but it absolutely works, and Lloyd’s brand of humour adds a great touch to the experience. Called The Pub at the End of Time, the location where you’ll head to between missions has a familiar face behind the bar in the form of Lloyd Kaufman, the prolific B-movie director famous for his Troma Entertainment films. There’s a nice surprise waiting for you in the hub world of Motorhead Through the Ages Motorhead aren’t the only ones making a cameo appearance here. It’s silly, sure, but it’s brilliant – although nothing can still beat fighting enemies toe-to-toe with a melee weapon in an ARPG. Yes, Victor can strum like the best of ’em, sending out waves of riffs to down enemies with. Items in game are either Consumables or Other. The expansion adds new weapons, one class of which is a guitar. The following is a list of Items in the game Victor Vran. There’s a lighter, more tongue-in-cheek feel to Motorhead Through the Ages too, making the entire campaign an enjoyable hard-rock romp. You don’t have to be a Motorhead fan to be able to enjoy this though some of the references may go over your head, but there’s no denying how gloriously well the soundtrack works with everything. There’s a Hitler-esque fuhrer threatening civilisation, along with a friendly beast known as Snaggletooth. Some locations have a similar feel, but everything is inspired by Motorhead songs, albums and lyrics. Your character progress, items and weapons will carry over, but it takes place in an entirely different world from the original’s dark and gothic Zagoravia. Motorhead Through the Ages acts as a separate game from vanilla Victor Vran, selectable from the main menu. Guitar riffs kick in when the action gets going, and during special events that can see your screen awash with all kinds of enemies, the rocking soundtrack turns up to 11, perfectly spurring you along as you hack, slash and shoot your way through hordes of demon guts. As a standalone title, Victor Vran is a solid contender for those looking for ARPG action outside of Tristram and Sanctuary, but it’s with the Motorhead Through the Ages DLC that things really get going.Īs you’d expect, the soundtrack is made up entirely of Motorhead tracks, which fit the tone of the game better than I could have expected. It’s an expansion to 2015’s Victor Vran, a demon-slaying action RPG in the same vein as Diablo. Victor Vran: Motorhead Through the Ages was announced last year, and is now available on PC, Xbox One and PS4. Modify your demon slaying loadout as you dodge deadly attacks, leap from towering locations and take on hordes of hideous beasts and cunning boss monsters. If there’s two things I never thought would go together it would be a Diablo-ish action-RPG and a 1970’s metal soundtrack. Explore ‘Motörhead: Through the Ages’ - a wild tour through the mythos of the loudest band in the world, and enter the Fractured Worlds, a dimension formed from the fragments of broken realms.Ĭhange how you play at any moment, even in the heat of battle. Forge your own hero on a quest to liberate the cursed city of Zagoravia.
